Appliance maker Whirlpool is celebrating today’s formal launch of the Matter smart home connectivity standard by dressing up like a smart house.
The firm just made an official announcement that it will embrace Matter throughout its whole line of connected appliances, referring to it as “the gold standard of smart home networking.
” Just what does that mean? The business has stated that it is working on software updates for its smart appliances that will enable Matter integration; however, it has not specified which devices will receive these enhancements.

Whirlpool also said that their future smart home products will be designed from the ground up with Matter in mind, which will eliminate the common problems that arise when trying to link many smart home devices together.

Whirlpool Corp. VP of Global Platforms Ludo Beaufils said, “Matter lets users to experience all the smart capabilities featured on our products while connecting compatible devices and systems with one another and controlling them from their favourite app or voice assistant.”

It’s not all that Whirlpool is doing to support the Matter platform with their appliances. They’ve also become a part of the Matter working group, so they’ll be participating in future protocol improvements, particularly those that pertain to “supporting appliances.”
