Sometimes when you send a snap or text message using Snapchat, the recipient may see Pending with a grey arrow rather than Delivered with a blue arrow. Your tweet or snap has not yet been sent.

It’s possible that a number of factors are at play here. However, there are many easy solutions, so there’s no need to fret.

So, what does Snapchat’s “pending” status indicate? What causes this to occur? Let’s figure out what’s going on and figure out how to fix it.

  1. You’re Not Friends on Snapchat

You will see Pending next to a Snapchat user’s name if your friend request has not yet been accepted. After the recipient accepts your friend request, the photo or text will be sent immediately.

There’s also the possibility that one of your previous Snapchat friends has deleted you from their contact list. We may not be able to simply tap a couple of buttons and have this problem disappear.

Once they readjust you, you’ll notice Delivered with a blue checkmark.

2. You’ve Been Blocked on Snapchat

There is no way to know when someone has blocked you on Snapchat. Pending is one of the indicators that someone has blocked you on Snapchat.

Your curiosity may lead you to wonder whether the contact has blocked or unfriended you. Then type their username into the search bar and hit enter.

If the person’s profile appears, it means they have removed you as a friend. They’ve successfully obstructed your view if you can’t see them at all.

3. The Snapchat Account Has Been Deleted

If your friend’s Snapchat account has been deleted, this could be the reason why you aren’t receiving their snaps any longer. There’s also a chance the account was banned and deleted.

Recovering a Snapchat account is straightforward, and you’ll know whether they’re back when the status of your snaps changes from Pending to Delivered again. In order to reactivate your account, simply sign in again within 30 days.

  1. The Snapchat App Has a Bug

Though Snapchat is generally a smooth and effective social networking site, it does have its flaws. At times, the app may have technical difficulties. You may see a Pending status appears out of the blue.

There could be a variety of causes for your phone’s app to malfunction. Possible causes include insufficient space on the device or an unnecessary software upgrade. You can try updating your phone’s firmware and removing Snapchat’s cache from the app’s settings if that doesn’t work. To purge cache, do as follows:

Select your Bitmoji or avatar by tapping on it in the top left corner.

To change preferences, click the gear symbol in the top right.

Click the “Clear Cache” link under “Account Actions” and scroll down.

Just click the Clear button and you’ll be finished.

5. You or the Recipient Doesn’t Have a Secure Internet Connection

A slow internet connection could be the cause of your “Pending” Snapchat status.

If you are having trouble sending the entire Snap while connected to Wi-Fi, consider switching to mobile data. An alternate solution is to reboot the router. Not to worry; your photos won’t get lost in the shuffle.

The recipient may not always be online, or they may have turned off their connection. In such a scenario, you’ll have to hold off till they come back online.

6. Snapchat’s Servers Are Down

As a result, the whole system crashes and nobody can use the software normally. This error message will be displayed or the application will crash.

Once the problem is fixed, your snaps and messages will be distributed as quickly as possible. In the meanwhile, you can try restarting the application multiple times to see if it helps. It’s also possible to uninstall the software and reinstall it.

7. The Recipient’s Phone Is Off

There will be situations when the recipient has nothing personal against you. What’s more, they could avoid potential network problems. Your photo may not be seen right away, but as “Pending,” if the user isn’t actively using their device.

The recipient may have turned off their phone to avoid distraction or because their battery was dead. Your snap should send as soon as they reconnect to the internet and power on their device.

Snapchat: What Does “pending” Mean? in Conclusion, Now You Know

Snapchat’s Pending status can occur for a variety of reasons. Your friend request may have been ignored, or the user may have blocked or unfriended you.

It’s also possible that your app or internet connection is malfunctioning. Even if someone has blocked or unfriended you, these problems can be fixed in a jiffy.
