Multi-Device functionality for WhatsApp is no longer in beta. As it is labeled in the settings area of WhatsApp, the “Linked Devices” feature was in testing mode until today, and users had to sign up for the beta programme.
According to WhatsApp, the experimental feature has contributed to an increase in consumers using the service directly from their web browser since it was introduced earlier this month.
With the multi-device capability, people can use their laptops or desktop computers to access WhatsApp without having to worry about the internet connection on their primary phone.
When it comes to utilizing WhatsApp Web, they are not dependent on their primary phone. After 14 days of inactivity, the connected devices will be deactivated.
Users will be able to use WhatsApp on up to five devices at once with this new functionality.
This Is how WhatsApp’s Multi-Device Support Works
Go to whatsapp.com on your computer or laptop. Not to be overlooked is WhatsApp’s new Code Verify feature, which lets you verify the legitimacy of codes you scan. Find out more here.
To access ‘Linked Devices,’ use the three-dot menu on your Android device. The setting ‘Linked Devices’ can be found in the settings menu on iOS devices.
Linked Devices can be accessed by clicking on them. Scan a code will be requested. Scan the web.whatsapp.com code to see if there are any errors. Keep your phone and laptop connected to the internet at all times.
Shortly thereafter, WhatsApp Web will be accessible on your laptop or desktop via code scanning. The main difference is that it can now operate independently of your phone.
When you link your phone to another device, WhatsApp says that the device “sends an end-to-end encrypted copy of your most recent message history to your newly linked device.”
This is where all of your messages are saved. On the other hand, WhatsApp Web and Desktop don’t
sync all messages.
WhatsApp may ask you to access your whole message history on your phone at times. On the FAQ page for the “Linked Devices” feature, WhatsApp has laid out which capabilities are not supported.
The Following Characteristics Are Included in This List
If your primary device is an iPhone, you can delete or clear chats on any associated devices.
Sending a message or making a phone call to someone who is still using an earlier version of WhatsApp.
Tablets aren’t supported at all, by the way.
On-the-fly access to a device’s current location
The ability to create and browse broadcast lists on connected gadgets.
Using WhatsApp Web to send messages with link previews.
Ensure that your iOS or Android smartphone has been updated to the newest version of the app from the relevant store if you can’t see the associated devices.
Once you’ve installed the new version, restart WhatsApp to see the new functionality.
