If you have a Spotify Premium subscription with an Apple Watch, you’ve been waiting a long time for this functionality to arrive.

You can now download Spotify playlists, albums, and podcasts to your Apple Watch so that you may listen to them offline. If you’ve got a newer version of the watchOS, Spotify has been steadily rolling it out since late May.

It’s a big deal because, for years, only Apple Music subscribers could download music to their Apple Watch for offline listening.

The fact that runners could leave their iPhones at home and still listen to music on their Apple Watch and wireless headphones was an important selling feature.

With the new addition of Apple Watch music downloads for Deezer subscribers, this service has become even more useful.)

You could only play/pause, switch songs, and adjust the volume of the music playing on your iPhone when using Spotify on your Apple Watch before.

You couldn’t really utilize it without having your phone close by and connected to your Apple Watch. As it turns out, that’s no longer the case.

Last November, Spotify did a small adjustment for Apple Watch users. As long as their Apple Watch was linked to Wi-Fi or LTE, they could listen to music without their iPhone nearby thanks to a recent upgrade (the latter meaning they needed a cellular model).

Most users have the Wi-Fi-only Apple Watch, thus this did not have a significant impact on their experience.

Can I Download Spotify Music to My Apple Watch?

In a nutshell, yes, but with two qualifiers. You must first have a subscription to Spotify Premium (meaning you have to be a paying subscriber).

If you have an Apple Watch running watchOS 6.0 or later, you won’t be able to use this feature on previous models such as the Series 2 and Series 1. Finally, make sure your Apple Watch is running the most recent version of the Spotify app.

How to Download Spotify Songs, Albums, and Playlists to Your Apple Watch

On your iPhone or on your Apple Watch, you can easily download Spotify songs to your device for offline listening. Make sure your iPhone or Apple Watch is linked to Wi-Fi or LTE before you begin.

As a result, if you don’t download while your Apple Watch is linked to Wi-Fi, it will rely on the LTE connection of your iPhone, which will use a lot of data.

Take a look at Spotify on your Apple Watch.

Look for the audio files you want to save.

Press the three dots (…) and select “Download to Apple Watch” from the playlist, album, or podcast you want to download.

You’ll see a green arrow next to the names of your library’s playlists, albums, and podcasts when they’ve been downloaded.

Start listening with your headphones connected.

Please be aware that an update to Spotify is currently being sent out, and this functionality will be available shortly.

In other words, if you browse to your music library and don’t see a “Download to Apple Watch” option, don’t stress.

Until then, make sure your Apple Watch and iPhone are running the newest software.
