Going to see some loved ones? You should use WiFi instead of your mobile data plan. Of course, you’ll need to know the password.

Do you disagree with that statement? If everyone is using iPhones, there’s no need to bother with the traditional combination of letters and numbers that make up a WiFi password.

In its place, you may try passing along your iPhone’s WiFi password.

In this way, you won’t need to remember any passwords and may quickly join a public Wi-Fi hotspot. Here’s how to tell someone your iPhone’s WiFi password in case you’ve never done it before.

Sharing a WiFi password between iPhones requires the physical proximity of the gadgets involved.

Make sure your WiFi and Bluetooth are both active, that you are both in each other’s contact lists, and that your Apple ID supports sharing passwords with others.

To Share Passwords Between iPhones:

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth need to be activated on each device. Simply navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn the slider to “On” to enable WiFi.

To enable Bluetooth, select it from the menu at Settings > Bluetooth.

Make that each Apple ID is listed as a contact in the other’s address book. The sharing won’t work unless you both have each other’s Apple IDs in your Contacts list.

For this to work, each of you will need to access your respective contact lists and add the other’s Apple ID email address. When two or more devices use the same Apple ID, this functionality is activated for all of them.

If the phone you’re giving the password from isn’t already connected to the WiFi network, do so now.

The next step, if you want to connect to the network, is to tap the WiFi network name from the list on your phone.

The wireless network’s password entry window will appear. Take note of the notification that says you can get to it by bringing your phone close to it.

If your phone isn’t already unlocked, do so, and then put it in close proximity to the other iPhone. A pop-up window requesting the WiFi password will appear at the screen’s bottom.

To reveal the password to a friend, click the Share Password option.

The WiFi network’s password will be transferred to the other phone, and its input field will be pre-populated with the correct information.

A completion notification will show up once it’s done and your phone is connected to the network; at that point, you can press Done.

Setting up Your iPhone For Wireless Internet

Following the aforementioned steps will allow you to quickly and easily share your iPhone’s WiFi password with others.

Basically, just keep the two gadgets near together. They can be in any orientation, but proximity is necessary for the Bluetooth radios to function.

If a guest needs to access your network but doesn’t want to bother with a complicated password, this feature will come in handy.

The most important thing to remember if it doesn’t work is to add each other’s Apple IDs to your contact list.

Do you have trouble keeping track of your passwords?

Passwords saved in Safari on an iPhone may be accessed in a flash, while Android users can easily locate Wi-Fi credentials. Passwords may be easily located on macOS as well.
