Johnny Depp, please meet the Instagram community at large.
On Thursday, the reclusive A-lister took to Twitter to debut his and Jeff Beck’s cover of John Lennon’s “Isolation.”
An understandable decision in light of Depp’s incredibly introspective 8-minute IGTV video in which he discussed the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Depp sat in what appeared to be a vast, candle-lit chamber, and said, “I’ve never done any of this before.”
“To be honest, I can’t say I’ve ever had much of a desire to before. The threat posed by this unseen enemy has already caused incalculable tragedies and damage to people’s lives, so now is the time to start a conversation about it.”

He said, “Humans are sick and neglected, with no one to help them. It’s getting to the point where people are becoming sick and struggling to breathe. Infuriatingly high death rates are being reported.
This horrible worldwide epidemic has left many unable to provide for their children and families.”
The Oscar nominee advised viewers to keep their attention on each other and their mutual support, “I realize that right now it may seem as like our hands are tied behind our backs, and to an extent, they are.
Our emotions are not restrained, our thoughts are not confined, and we are able to care. With each other’s support, we shall succeed. As far as the eye can see, there are people who care. If you care to look, it will always be in plain sight.”
“In the face of what can only be described as terrible quarantine boredom, we must not give in to the temptation to shut down and retreat.
He went on to say that people who live alone should take advantage of their opportunity to engage in “excellent learning” because “we need to keep ourselves intrigued.”
“Depp remarked, “Today ain’t coming back, so we have a responsibility to each other to address these moments in different ways.

The 56-year-old included a final note for his devoted followers.
“For all the help, encouragement, and inspiration you’ve given me through the years, I sincerely appreciate it. The gesture has moved me deeply.”
Within a few short hours, he gained more than a million new Instagram followers. In the space above, you may watch the entirety of Depp’s video.
