New Apple Music subscribers who own AirPods, a HomePod mini, or Beats headphones get six months for free. However, you must be a new subscriber.

Basically, if you join up within 90 days after initially connecting your qualified audio device with an iPhone or iPad running the most recent version of iOS or iPad, you’ll be eligible for the free six-month trial.
Therefore, unless you moved your HomePod to a separate Apple ID, you won’t be able to benefit if you’ve been using it with your Apple ID for more than 90 days.
A free six-month Apple Music trial is available from other sources besides only Apple. In the US, Best Buy offers six months free, and Target gives members a four-month free trial.

There is an additional, non-purchase-required way to extend your Apple Music trial. This promotion occurs periodically, and in the past, Shazam has provided free access to Apple Music for five or even six months.
Simply download Shazam to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to get started. You can locate the Limited Time Only offer under your Recent Shazams, so you don’t even need to download the app to identify the music playing.
