Apple realized that not all of its iOS device owners also had Macs, so it made its phones and tablets compatible with Windows PCs.
Connecting an iPhone or iPad to a Windows PC through USB allows you to do setup, charge the battery, share the device’s internet connection, transfer files, and sync content. Read this article to learn how to create a backup of your iOS device on a Windows computer.
Make Sure You Have the Correct USB Cable
The only requirements are a USB port and Windows 7 or later on your computer. However, you must use a USB cable that has the proper termination for your computer’s USB port.
If your computer has a USB-C connector but you only have a Lightning to USB cable, you’ll either need to buy a USB-C to USB adapter (also sold separately) or a USB-C to Lightning cable (included with some newer models of iPhone and iPad) (sold separately).

A Lightning to USB Cable is required if your iPhone or iPad was shipped with a USB-C to Lightning Cable but your computer only has a USB port (sold separately).
An iPad with a USB-C Charge Cable and a computer with a USB port may be charged using an adapter and a USB-A cable.
