A watermark will appear in the lower-right corner of your desktop screen if you haven’t enabled Windows 10, and you’ll be unable to make many changes to the look of your desktop.
In the first place, I’ll demonstrate two different approaches to putting in a product key and getting it to work. Then, I’ll demonstrate an alternative approach that does not require a product key.
The following techniques are compatible with all versions of Windows 10, including:
OS: Windows 10 Home
OS: Windows 10 Home N
Windows 10 Home Singe Language
Microsoft Windows 10 Professional
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro N
Education Version of Windows 10 (N)
Windows 10 Professional
Operating System, Windows 10 Professional N
Let’s go right in; there’s no time to waste.
How To Activate Windows 10 Using Product Key
In this manner, activating Windows 10 requires a product key, which may be obtained in a few different methods depending on whether or not Windows 10 was installed from scratch.
Method 1 – Using Product Key from Microsoft
Product keys are 25-character codes that are used to activate Windows and may be found in the packaging or in the confirmation email if you buy it from the Microsoft Store online.
Windows 10 Home product keys are readily available on the Microsoft Store for those who plan to use Windows 10 only for non-commercial, non-commercial purposes.
Here, you may activate Windows 10 Pro using a product key if you want to join a business or educational network.
The latter has everything included in Windows 10 Home, plus business-oriented features like Remote Desktop, Windows Information Protection, BitLocker, and more. Keys for Windows 10 Home cost $139 on the Microsoft Store, while Windows 10 Pro costs $199.99.
The license can also be purchased from other retail outlets, typically at a lower price. The problem with buying from these retailers is that Microsoft does not provide customer service for the products they sell.
WARNING: Windows won’t activate if your license doesn’t match the edition you purchased. In Windows 10, navigate to the Settings menu followed by Update & Security, and then Activation.

Product keys are shown on the order page and emailed to you following a successful purchase, and you’ll need to input them to activate Windows 10 after you receive them. Here’s what you should do:

Select Preferences by pressing the Start button.

Navigate to Activation > Change Product Key under Update & Security.

Having made a purchase, you may now input the product key and proceed to the following step.

The ‘Activate’ button will appear if the product key you supplied is correct for the Windows 10 edition you are using. Once you click it, Windows 10 will be properly enabled.
Method 2 – Using Microsoft OEM System Builder
Using Microsoft OEM system builder is yet another option for activating Windows 10 using a product key.
What does OEM mean? Original Equipment Manufacturer. This indicates that the Windows 10 operating system on your machine was preinstalled by the manufacturer and came with a valid product key at the time of purchase.
OEM copies of Windows 10 Home and Pro are available for purchase and come with a product key that can be used to activate the operating system after it is installed on a computer. You may get it, for instance, through this Amazon link.
Note the Following:
On a brand-new PC with no other copy of Windows already installed, you should install OEM.
There is no way to copy it, and it can only be used on one computer.
There is no cost-free access to Windows support for those who purchase an OEM copy of the operating system. However, in my years of using Windows, I’ve found that this is rarely necessary. Avoid using it if you care about this issue.
When you buy the goods, scratch off the label to reveal the activation key.
Last but not least, this DVD is compatible with 64-bit operating systems (hence, your Windows computer should have a CD-ROM to run and install it before the activation)
In the next part, I will demonstrate a second option for activating Windows 10 without a purchase key. This way of activating Windows 10 has worked for me most of the time without cost.
How To Activate Windows 10 for Free Without Product Key
Windows 10 may be activated without a product key using a digital license. You may purchase this digital license on its own, or you can link it to your Microsoft account.
Instead of entering a product key during installation, Windows 10 may be activated with a digital license (called a digital entitlement in Windows 10).
To reactivate Windows 10 after making a software modification that renders it inactive, you don’t need a new product key or digital license if your digital license is already linked to your Microsoft account.
If you haven’t already, just sign in to your Microsoft account on your Windows 10 PC. After logging in, Windows 10 will automatically be activated again using the digital license (if one was associated with your account at the initial activation).
To activate Windows 10, head to the Settings > Update & Security > Activation page. Please use the “I don’t have a product key” option on the activation screen. Follow that up by signing in to your Microsoft account. Windows 10 will now be activated immediately if a digital license was associated with it.

Alternatively, you might use the following technique:
Click the Sign in button on the Microsoft account page.
Select Next after entering the email address, phone number, or Skype sign-in you use for other services (Outlook, Office, etc.).

Sign in with your username and password, then.

If you’re using Windows 10, you may use the Microsoft Store app to double-check that your sign-in information has been successfully synced to your machine.
Windows 10 usually doesn’t need a product key because it activates digitally without user intervention.

If you need a product key, you can find it on the Windows installation DVD or the email you received after buying Windows.
However, digital licenses can be purchased if you do not already possess one. Select the ‘Go to Store’ option by tapping the Start button, then navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Activation. If you choose to buy a digital license, the Microsoft Store app will launch.
