The way we use apps and video games evolves as well. With the rise in popularity of Chromebooks as a platform for accessing Google Play’s extensive catalogue of apps and games, we’ve decided to recognise developers whose creations shine on the largest displays available to them. Our other new categories, such as “best story game,” “best continuing” (e.g. live service), and “best game available on Play Pass,” reflect the wide variety of game types available today.
And, as is the case every year, this year’s winners are reflective of what’s most important to people right now, from apps that help us stay present and rooted to games that transport us to fantastical worlds.
