The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high severity advisory for internet users, warning users to update to the latest version of Google Chrome immediately.
This warning came shortly after Google rolled out an emergency update to browser version 99 to fix critical vulnerabilities in the internet browser.
According to the advisory issued by CERT-In, “a vulnerability has been detected in Google Chrome,” and this vulnerability “may allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.”
Users of Google Chrome are strongly encouraged to upgrade their versions as soon as possible in light of the fact that the vulnerability has already been exploited by cybercriminals.

“This vulnerability is present in Google Chrome because the V8 JavaScript engine component in Google Chrome contains a type misunderstanding problem.”
This vulnerability might be exploited by a remote attacker by submitting a specially designed webpage, which would cause a type misunderstanding error and allow arbitrary code to be executed on the targeted system.
“If an attacker from a remote location were to successfully exploit this vulnerability, they would be able to run arbitrary code on the machine they are attacking and possibly even take complete control of it,” CERT-In noted in its alert.
The 99.0.4844.84 update for the stable channel was recently released by Google, and it was made available for Windows, Mac, and Linux beginning on March 25.
A similar caution was just just distributed by CERT-In to users of the Mozilla Firefox web browser. CERT-In had made an announcement that a number of security flaws had been discovered in Mozilla products.
These flaws could allow hackers to circumvent security restrictions, carry out spoofing attacks, execute arbitrary code, obtain sensitive information, and cause a denial of service attack on the targeted system.

These vulnerabilities affect all previous versions of the Mozilla Firefox internet browser, up to and including the most recent version, Firefox 98.

Additionally, versions of Mozilla Firefox ESR and Mozilla Firefox Thunderbird that are older than 91.7 are susceptible to the same kind of security flaws.
Users were recommended by CERT-In to upgrade to version 98 of Mozilla Firefox, version 91.7 of Firefox ESR, and version 91.7 of Thunderbird as soon as possible.
