Option 1: Fixing the Fire TV Remote

Believe me, I know you don’t want to.

The batteries on your Fire TV remote are probably dead at this point. You’re probably thinking, “I’ve changed the batteries twice. ” I mean, really, give me a break here.

The Fire TV remote, however, is a picky creature that insists on brand-new, completely charged batteries before it will reconnect to your Fire TV Stick or Box.

I have tried using batteries from other remote controls, which are all in good working order, but to no avail. It’s common knowledge that this power-hungry remote works best with brand-new, unused batteries.

When your Fire TV is located next to a complex television system, the need for new batteries becomes much more pressing. Imagine a stack of audiovisual components, speakers, and a wireless access point. Several Fire TV remotes have a serious problem with signal interference.

You may be experiencing the same problem with the remote that I did if a fresh set of batteries has already been tried without success. There is a simple solution that doesn’t cost anything.

If you need any additional guidance, make sure to read the helpful hints provided by other readers at the bottom of the page. Moreover, you can post any inquiries you might have, and there are a plethora of helpful FireTV tips and tricks.

To Continue “my Fire Tv Remote Won’t Connect!,” Let’s Move on To Solution 2.

I can empathize if your Fire TV Voice Remote has ever stopped working out of the blue. Since October 2014, I’ve had a Fire TV, and up until this past week, it’s been able to handle anything I’ve thrown at it. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the remote stopped connecting and eventually stopped working altogether.

I tried everything I could think of to get this remote working again, and then I had an idea that brought it back to life.

I didn’t figure this out by searching through countless websites and movies on the topic; rather, I uncovered it after giving the remote a thorough examination. Actually, it was my own fault and partly the fault of cheap pound store batteries that litter the UK, not Amazon’s for making inferior items.

To my surprise, the Fire TV remote’s appearance upon removing the battery cover was fully unaltered. At eye level, I detected a small chalky residue on the connectors of the remote’s battery compartment, but this had not been apparent at first glance.

Then, as I glanced across the room at a pack of dollar store batteries, it hit me. It turned out that the Fire TV remote’s connectors had been corroded by battery acid from one of the inexpensive batteries.

Below, in Solution 2, I’ll show you how to correct this. To get you started, here are a few brief pointers.

When Your Fire Tv’s Remote Control Won’t Power Up, Here’s What to Do.

Thankfully, the Amazon App Store, Google Play, and the Apple App Store all host the Amazon Fire TV Remote app. Next, you’ll be able to use the app to manage your Fire TV and move on to the subsequent procedure.

If You Want to See if Your Fire TV Remote Is Linked to Your Device, Here’s How To Do It.

Visit the configuration menu on your Fire TV box or dongle to test the connectivity of your remote.

Access the Bluetooth and controller settings through the menu.

Check to check if your remote is successfully connecting and what devices are currently associated with it. In my situation, the remote would reappear when I fiddled with the batteries, just to vanish again.

If all else fails, you can always get a brand-new replacement Amazon Fire TV Remote. But before we do that, let’s see if we can get the remote working again.

Having Trouble with Your Fire TV Remote? Try These Steps

I used a flat head screwdriver to carefully scrape the Remote’s end connectors. As I scraped, I wiped away the residue with a dry cloth. After this procedure, the connector should be as good as new. After I replaced the batteries, the remote worked immediately.

Following the advice given in the comments, which involves soaking a Q-tip in isopropyl, will help you appear more professional.

Extra Advice for the Fire TV Remote’s Inability to Sync

There have been reports of consumers experiencing problems due to WiFi channel interference from their routers. Changing this takes diving into the weeds of technical details, but it’s still a simple process.

Get into the router’s control panel (details on the unit). Find WiFi Channel and switch to another channel. You can use ‘WiFi Analyzer’ from Google Play to see the least used channel for your home.
