Glen Schofield, who had previously worked as the creative director of Dead Space and Call of Duty: WWII, was given the position of CEO of PUBG Corporation’s newest studio, Striking Distance, last year.
Schofield feels that the San Ramon studio is aiming for something that is beyond what is possible in modern Triple-A video games, even if the firm has not yet disclosed what it is currently working on.
In an interview with VentureBeat, Striking Distance co-founder Scott Schofield discussed the company’s plans to build on the lore that was only hazily established in PlayerUnknown’s Battleground with their upcoming narrative-focused project.
According to Schofield, the company Striking Distance, which currently has seventy workers, refers to its initiative as “quad-A” because of the lofty objectives it has set for itself.

Schofield notes that there is a lot of experience within the team.

“We have high hopes that it will be something of a triple-A calibre. In practise, we refer to it as the quad-A. We intend to go above and beyond expectations in order to create something truly unique.”
C.H. Kim, who serves as the CEO of PUGB Corporation, makes it possible for the company to shoot for the stars.
Schofield claims that Kim has provided him with a great deal more leeway to develop the game that he and his team want to develop, without the constraint of having to comply to a layout that is specified by an established franchise.
“I don’t have a Call of Duty or a World War II where I have to shoehorn a game that I want to build into that framework,” Schofield added. “I’m free to make whatever game I want, whenever I want.”

“I felt that I had more leeway to be creative with Advanced Warfare, but at the same time, you were aware that it was a very specific kind of game. When it came to this one, I just approached it by asking, “What game do you want to play?””
After Call of Duty: WWII was released, both Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey resigned their positions as co-creators of Dead Space at Activision’s Sledgehammer Games.
Condrey has joined 2K and is helping to build their newest studio, which is called 31st Union. In the meantime, Schofield is leading Striking Distance.
